Derida Dance Center Residency Program is among the organization’s main instruments that help us realize our mission for providing opportunities for development of contemporary dance in Bulgaria. On one hand, this happens through exchange of international experience, and on the other, through making the production process easier for the authors.

In 2016 we are glad to host:

Marta Ladjanski from Hungary who will come in April and do a 2-week residency working with local dancers and individually on her project.
Luis Marrafa from Portugal/Germany/Belgium will be with us in June and will work on his author project with local dancers to expand an existing concept.
Laura Witzleben from Lithuania and her team from Aura Dance Company will be our guests in the summer to work on their project “When Grass Turns Blue”.
In September we will host Andrea Hackl and her team from Austria. They will work on the project “Mind The Gap”. Also in September our guests will be Collectivo Nada from Italy with the project “TO BE OR BODY”.
In October we are expecting the U.S. choreographer Charles Slender-White who will do a 3-week residency and create a piece with Bulgarian dancers working with Countertechnique.

In case some of these artists/teams cannot do the residency, Derida Dance Center will invite the next selected candidate (reserve) in the following order: 3man from Hungary, Albert Garcia, Chris Babingui from Congo and Pelepe from Israel.
In the past few years Derida Dance Center has hosted many Bulgarian and foreign artists, who shared part of their creative way and their experience with professionals and non-professionals in the field of contemporary dance in Bulgaria.

As a result in 2014 Derida Dance Center Residency Program was recognized by experts of the European Commission in Brussels as a best practice for exchange of artistic experience on the Old continent together with examples from Ireland and Finland.
