With Marion Alzieu (France) and Saju Hari (India, UK) joining Min Li (China) and Lindsey Derry (USA) the foreign residencies in Derida Dance Center this year will be four. Earlier in the summer our team selected the Chinese and American choreographers and dancers who together with their colleagues from India and France will do their artistic one-month residencies in the dance center in October and November.
Marion Alzieu is a French choreographer and contemporary dance performer who went through various moving styles (hip hop, classical ballet and modern dance) on her way to contemporary dance. She has received qualification and training in several schools and dance companies in France and UK. In the choreographic field she enters together with the musician Michael Avron.

In Derida Dance Center they will work on a project that does a research on the seeking and finding of a connection between people. Where does interaction between us happen – in an objective reality or in our imagination, fragmented by the grating of our limited intermittent perceptions? These are the questions which Marion and Michael’s dance and music project will ask (and maybe satisfy).

Saju Hari also deals with the idea of connectivity and interaction but in its aspect of mutual change of subjective reality and modification of perception as a result of group dynamics. “In the group sometimes normal logic and values we all hold dear as individuals disappears and we make great compromises. What are the implications of that to the individual?” is the question that provoked Saju.
Apart from the work on their author projects all of the residents will share their experience in workshops with the participants in Dance PORT Derida 2015 – the education and training program created and run by Derida Dance Center and supported by America for Bulgaria Foundation.
Derida Dance Center Residency Program is being realized with the financial support of Sofia Municipality.
