Open Call for Derida Dance Center Residency Program 2019



Derida Dance Center, located in Sofia, Bulgaria, opens a call for an artistic residency in the field of contemporary dance and performance for 2019.

How many residencies will happen?
Four residencies will happen for contemporary dance artists coming from outside of Bulgaria.

In what time will the residencies happen?
Each residency will last 20 days. The applicants can express their preferences for a 20-day period of rehearsals within the period March –November 2019 (exact periods are indicated in the application form).

What are the conditions of the residency?
Derida Dance Center will provide:

·        Accommodation (max. 5 people)

·        Per-diems (350 euro per residency)

·        Space (4-5 h a day)

·        Technical equipment (professional sound system and lights)

·        Rehearsal time (presentation of work in progress/premiere)

·        2 days rehearsal time on stage with professional sound and lightning.


At the end of the residency, either a complete performance or work in progress needs to be presented at Derida Dance Center. 
Each resident is required to lead a 10-hour workshop with local dancers (5 days, 2 hours per day). At the end of the workshop, a presentation of the results will be done at Derida Dance Center. 

How can you apply?
In order to apply for a residency, you need to download, fill in and send the

All the applications will go through a selection process and the applicants selected for a residency will be informed by e-mail by March 5.

What is the final date for application?
The deadline for sending the application forms is February 28. The chosen applicants will receive an e-mail by March 5
